Silviu Mihai

Silviu Mihai works as a freelance journalist and shifts regularly between Berlin and Eastern Europe. He had studied Politics and Philosophy in Bucharest, Budapest and Berlin, before he started working as a reporter for a number of Romanian dailies and online newsportals. Between 2009 and 2012, he was a producer and reporter for the Berlin bureau of the US National Public Radio (NPR). Since 2009, he has been writing features, analyses and background stories for numerous German speaking print and online media outlets, like the Tagesspiegel, the taz and der Freitag (Berlin), the Wiener Zeitung (Vienna) or the WOZ (Zurich). Since 2010, he is a board member of n-ost. His stories cover a variety of political and social issues in Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav countries.
