Born 1989 in Basel, he studied Contemporary History and Eastern European Studies at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). Erasmus semesters and summer schools in various countries opened him the door to Central and Eastern Europe. In 2016 he started a PhD in the field of German-Czech relations at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

During a research stay in Prague, he returned to his journalistic roots, he started his own blog and wrote for the "Landesecho" in Prague. In 2019 he began a traineeship for F.A.Z. in Frankfurt. Since April 2021 he is political editor of F.A.Z.
